Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Services
Red Cross Chapters across the country provide thousands of services every day thanks to the dedication of volunteers who are committed to the mission of the American Red Cross.
Our chapter is certainly no exception. We depend on our volunteers who faithfully work at local or national disasters, transport medical patients, work at blood drives, provide language translations or teach Health and Safety Courses in our community.

Disaster Services
Trained Disaster Volunteers give immediate relief to victims of disaster, and are always prepared for the unexpected.  Individuals, groups, clubs and organizations are all a vital part of our community's disaster team.
Join the team yourself, or as a part of a group, by becoming trained to respond to disaster situations on a weekly, monthly or as-needed basis.
Training for local or national disasters is available locally or through neighboring chapters.

Transportation
Join the Red Cross Transportation Services which provides free, non-emergency rides to medical appointments.
Drivers need to be 18 or older, have a valid Connecticut driver's license and a safe driving record.

Blood Services
Volunteers are needed to staff blood drives throughout our five Valley towns.  Hours are flexible and include early evenings as well as Saturday hours.
Volunteer positions include:
Registration/Greeter ● Donor Escort ● Canteen ● Sign-Out

Interpreters
Volunteers are needed on an "on-call" basis to translate letters or other communications.  If you can speak any foreign language and would like to be added to our language bank, please let us know.

Health and Safety
You can educate and prepare yourself, your family, friends and co-workers for emergencies.
As a trained volunteer instructor you can teach courses such as:
CPR ● First Aid ● Child Care ● Water Safety ● HIV/AIDS Education ● Baby Sitting
Hours are flexible and include daytime, early evening and Saturday classes.

Other Opportunities
Join our support team and share your skills with computers, data entry, grant writing and fund raising.
